Meet Luka! Big, fluffy, and lovable—he is quite the golden doodle of his new owner’s heart! A special gift from her son—Luka, bounded into Kristin’s life with paws and plenty of personality.

Before receiving Luka, Kristin had faced sweeping loss and change in her 50s. Divorce, single parenting, empty nest, financial responsibility, and the passing of a beloved family pet put a tremendous amount of strain on Kristin’s well-being. She knew she needed to take charge of her health, or the pressure of life would do it for her (but not in a good way). It didn’t help matters that Kristin also struggled with the autoimmune condition Hashimoto, which doesn’t do well under stress.

Feeling the urgency to get serious about health, Kristin started researching nutrition and natural and holistic approaches to strengthen her body (what to keep out of her body and what to put in). Her determination began to show in both mental and physical progress. After a time, she began to feel better than she had in years (now in her 60s). But there was another health boost that had nothing to do with food. It was the arrival of Luka—a powerful supplement to the heart and spirit!

Amazingly, studies have shown that dogs can slow down aging and curb depression and loneliness in humans. According to the Mayo Clinic, owning a pet, especially a dog, can improve heart health, mood, and diet in seniors. People who own dogs tend to be more social, too, and more apt to converse with other dog owners. Walking dogs regularly is another benefit to keeping active and being outdoors.

For Kristin, waking up daily to the pep and joy of this bubbly little fellow starts the day off just right. As far as Luka is concerned, Kristin is God’s gift to him. After all, Luka flourishes with Kristin, too. Luka and Kristin are both enjoying the blessing of being—healthy, happy, and thriving.
